The last few days have been wonderful, between starting work, eating yummy food, drinking good wine, and playing with dogs life could not get any better !

"I think Dog's son Leland is so hot."

This is what my best friend said to me last night as we watched Dog The Bounty Hunter. After receiving a look of disgust from me she proceeded to try and defend her crazy statement in a stream of thought that I only WISH that I had caught on tape to replay it all to you now.... It was truly a moment of awesomeness

Personally L feel that his taste in fashion leaves something to be desired....

Ooh, that's why I'm easy

I'm easy like Sunday morning....

First off I, KMK am no longer jobless !!!! As of yesterday yours truly will be taking on the role of Front of House Manager at Mi Lah Vegetarian. I will talk more about this at a later date, however I will say now that I am super excited to be there and be apart of their team.

Below is a photo of my day, and it could NOT have been better. In between eating brunch at Mi Lah (YUMMY !) and my staff meeting I went to Barnes and Nobel, drank green tea and read all of the cook books I could get my hands on. Debate for the day, is it wrong to take photos of recipes without buying the book ? I hope not....

Its a sunshine day !

It was so beautiful today ! I was very excited to take the pugs out on a nice long walk to the parkl for some fetch and maybe to meet some new dog friends. Lately we have all been cooped up and taking such short walks trying not to freeze to death. So needless to say today was a warm welcome !

You know those cards....

The ones with some OTHER persons family's embarrasing photos, and then the card people make some witty joke inside...

Well here you go card people. Feel free to send me money for giving you this jem. Thats my mother, and my grandmother and yes dear readers that is a capuchin monkey on my grandmothers shoulder. I have heard stories about this monkey and seen this photo cropped leaving just my adorable little mom making a serious stink face, however looking at it cropped one is not aware that face is obviously at the monkey, however in all its glory its a true jem.
i love my life

Happy Obama Day !!

I am sure that blogger is FULL of postings just like mine, so this is short and sweet. I spent today sitting with my grandmother watching what has been the most historical election to date. There were so many emotions, its almost impossible to put words to them. At the end of the day, its excitement. Excitement for a new begining and a chance for our nation to become great again.

There's a rat in the kitchen...

And his name is Remy and he is a bigger foodie than myself. Really I am writing this blog because I forgot how much I loved this movie. MTP would never go see this film with me because she was grossed out at the concept of a rat in the kitchen. I wish she would have given the film a chance b/c this little rat Remy is like I said a big foodie, and MTP is like myself a big foodie. Honestly friend, watch this movie, you will love it, Remy is the kinda rat that would love fondue night at Fast and French (p.s. friend I really miss fast and french). Ratatouille is yet another great Pixar film, I would say my favorite up there with Nemo. Plus its all about the love of food, and well lets fact it for me food is love.
Not being able to cook right now is one of the things (amongst others that I will not bore you with) that is KILLING me ! Spending a cold day cooking with good music (Rat Pack style) and my helpers (aka pugs) seriously tops my list of favorite things to do. I can't wait till a few weeks when I get to be in my own house and cook dinner for myself and JGra, and any visitors we may have (open invite LEB).
I will leave you with a quote from the flick:
Anton Ego: I don't LIKE food, I LOVE it. If I don't LOVE it, I don't SWALLOW.

Anyone looking to get me a little gift....

Now that the house hunt is over (crossing fingers crossing fingers) I am in full crazy lady decoration mode. Today while drooling in Anthropology over every single thing they have, ESPECIALLY in the homes section. Picking up every candle and trying to smell how it will smell in my bedroom, looking at every wine glass and plate and envisioning it on shelves. Well while in this slightly obsessive mode...I came across these he and she initial mugs. For anyone who does not know me...... I have a thing for monograms and initials. So I can already see these mugs hanging in our new home on little cup hangers, in my pretty kitchen, with my pugs........ahhh perfection. They will be mine.

Homeless no more !

House hunting on Saturday was a total success ! I had the entire day planned and after the second house there was no question. Well that and after we ventured into Center City it took JGra and hour to park, we fought about it and realized maybe CC would NOT be a wonderful thing. SOOOO as of February the Kennedy-Grassi clan will be residents of Northern Liberties !We will be moving into a wonderful brick, 2 bedroom 3 floor house with a great yard and deck, so consider yourself invited to the wonderful garden parties I will be throwing on my super cool deck ! In my house with all sorts of character ! We are surrounded by wonderful restaurants and bars and down the street from the dog park! I could not be happier, also the lovely Ms.Biron will be my 1 street over neighbor ! According to google maps we will live 0.7 miles apart ! JGra really likes this idea b/c he said I can go over there when he is sick of me.... HA wait till MTP moves in, then he can go the 0.7 miles to Chez Biron to get away from all of us ! Its such a wonderful feeling to know that in a few short weeks JGra and myself will have a home again, a home fyi is so much better than an apartment. Giving up our wonderful house in Charleston was soo hard for me. I can't wait to make this place my own ! This means I will soon be making a wonderful trip to my most favoritest store in the WORLD !!!!!

I will post photos after all is spiffed up and mine !

Every Now and Then......

You watch a movie that moves you, a film that really makes you think about what you are doing. Or in this case NOT doing. Last night my lady friend Ms.Biron and myself went to see Gus Van Sant's film Milk, first off if you have not seen it, run. NOW, to go see this movie. The film was so incredibly moving. It was wonderfully cast and very well done, blending old footage with Mr.Van Sant's work. Easily the best movie I have seen this year. Sean Penn was amazing at playing the late Harvey Milk, California's first openly gay elected official, his mannerisms captured the quirks belonging to Harvey perfectly.

In the beginning of the film Harvey confides in his partner Scott that here he is at 40 and he has not done anything yet that he is proud of, the movie goes on to show how in the next 8 years of his life Harvey became an icon in San Francisco and a fighter for gay rights. John Cloud commented on his influence, saying "[After Milk] many people—straight and gay—had to adjust to a new reality he embodied: that a gay person could live an honest life and succeed."

So after and during this film I began to think, here I am at 24, and I have nothing to show for it. I used to have a lot more passion and drive. I used to be much more of a fighter and advocate. Spending my weekends and free time fighting and speaking for those who had no voice. In the process of trying to grow up, that girl has gotten lost. I don't know where exactly she is, well I know physically where she is located. She is sitting in front of a computer at her parents house blogging, trying to figure out what to do with her life. It's still me, I still care deeply about these issues however, for whatever reason I stopped speaking out and fighting. I think I have been looking at this whole move home the wrong way, I've been super stressed about finding a job to try and make money, and while yes unfortunately making money is a necessary evil, I think I need to take this time to get me back. Every good fighter has a comeback, thanks Mr.Van Sant and Mr.Milk for reminding me its time for mine.

a little note to my little pug sister

Dear Maggie May,

I can totally appreciate that when mom and day leave in the morning you are looking for a soft and warm spot to snuggle. I was also quite impressed that you were able to pile drive the door open, that little pug was very impressive. HOWEVER....... when you come to join us in the am, please to not step all over Ernie, he is VERY protective of his sleeping space under the blankets, behind my bum. When you step all over him, it causes him to make intense gremlin noises, and then when you try and snuggle under the blanket.... well that just causes a full on puggie war. And well, 7am-ish is just WAY WAY WAY too early for a puggie war dear mag. Just a little note to keep in mind the next time you come to snuggle. Please have mom read this to you....

A chilly catchup

If there is ANYONE who has enjoyed this recent move home, its the pugs. They are in attention overload (ed note: attention overload is NOT possible for pugs). Our days consist of snuggles and nice walks with fetch, followed by more snuggles. With as you can see some trips to the beach in Cape May (their favorite beach, I know this b/c they told me). I like to believe that this is making their adjustment easier. But who am I kidding. they would have been fine anyway, this is just spoiling them more (if that was even possible)

As far as the humans are concerned, JGra has started his job and is so far enjoying is very much. Your truly is now playing the waiting game. As far as a job for me, I went thru a placement agency and am letting them do the job search for me, allowing me more time to house hunt. The hardest part of this move is the fact that I don't get to be with JGra, he's been my roommate for the last 3 years and not being with him 24/7 is super weird. The grand house hunt is doing nothing more than stress me like crazy pants. Pretty sure house hunting in Philadelphia is a big joke, I will be keeping myself busy needless to say. I'm sure everything will pan out well. Taking the advice of Dory the fish...... "just keep swimming, just keep swimming.."
